I was tagged by Susan Kicklighter in this blog hop, but this subject is fun for everyone. Even if you’re not a blogger, you can leave your top ten favorite screen characters from movie or television in the comments section.
It’s really difficult to narrow it down. I wonder if it’s the actors who make me fall in love with the character rather than the writing. I guess good screen characters are a perfect synergy of acting, directing, and writing.
Anyway, here is a list off the top of my head in no particular order except I’m saving my all-time favorite for last *sigh*.
1. FRANK N. FURTER from ROCKY HORROR
2. ELAINE BENES from SEINFELD
3. GENE WILDER’s WILLY WONKA
4. SATINE from MOULIN ROUGE
5. THE DUDE from THE BIG LEBOWSKI
6. VIVIAN WARD from PRETTY WOMAN
7. COUNT DRACULA in BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA
8. JEN YU from CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON
9. MARQUIS DE SADE from QUILLS
10. VICOMTE de VALMONT in DANGEROUS LIAISONS
Disclaimer: I totally ganked these pictures from obscure places on the web. Apologies if I’m infringing any copyrights.
So who are your favorite all time screen characters?
I tagged some new bloggers who I thought would enjoy this, but if you’re not into blog hops, just ignore. If I didn’t tag you, you’re still free to take it and run with it!
Rules: Name your ten faves, tag ten bloggers, link back to this post http://wp.me/p4qRsP-ja
Deranged Writers (each of you!)
And to all of my regular buddies who don’t have blogs (you know who you are), leave your list of faves in the comments section.
Thanks again to Susan Kicklighter for giving me an excuse to blog about my favorite characters.
So much fun! I’m like you, no real TV now but I’ll put up my favorites from film/past.
All right. You called me out. I’ll get my list up today!
Great! Can’t wait to see your choices 🙂
Old movie favorite, Gary Cooper, who did not like the character Sergeant York.
Anthony Quinn, Zorba the Greek- How he taught up tight person to love life
Favorite movie, The God Father
Favorite mini series, Thorn Birds
Tv show, NCIS–show was nothing special, but the casting was perfect. Loved the characters. Nothing really good on TV
Seinfield, you had to laugh. Love Crammer too
Sam Elliot- No great roles, but the sexiest voice ever.
I agree with you on pretty women. It was enjoyable,
I liked Meet Joe Black, far fetched but entertaining, Just like Ghost.
I thought about the Godfather and Scarface too. I didn’t see Zorba the Greek, but I saw Anthony Quinn in A Man of Passion about a womanizing painter. Loved that. Ghost is a classic too. I loved Whoopie in that one.
Nice call on Elaine!
I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I do…
I see we have seen many of the same movies — but I have to admit, I’ve never seen VICOMTE de VALMONT in DANGEROUS LIAISONS…so guess what I’m putting on my Netflix list?
I am virtually grabbing you by the collar. Yes! Watch it. And I thought about tagging you, but I didn’t know you liked blog hops. If so, by all means take it away!
This is a tough one. I don’t watch television anymore, unless I’m in a bar; because when my old television went kaput I didn’t replace it when I found out that I got so much more blogging and writing done without a television. And I haven’t been to a movie in years; although I use to make underground Super 8 films. Let’s just say I like to watch The Doors on YouTube. I did see that dance Elaine did and it was a hoot!
I don’t watch TV either. That’s why Elaine is my only reference from back in the day. So are my movies. I love film, but only if it’s good. Few and far between.
